OK so you’ve already made a New Year’s Resolution to see more live music in 2017…..so why not start it with an afternoon of brilliant Australian alt. country and Americana with Matt J Ward & The Rising Sons, Alana Jagt and Sydney troubadour Sam Newton?!?!
In their last gig before heading to Tamworth, Matt J Ward & The Rising Sons continue their rise as regulars on the Australian Alt-country and Americana scene. Matt delivers a unique blend of contemporary Australian alt. country and draws comparisons with Neil Murray, Shane Howard, Corb Lund and Sturgill Simpson with snippets of Nashville, the drive of late 70s Australian rock and swaggering tales of west Texan dive bars.
Sydney’s alt country troubadour Sam Newtown ventures to Adelaide for the second time in recent months. Sam is a storytelling folk / alt country musician from Sydney who takes full advantage of traditional country and blues foundations to build both free wheelin’ and carefully constructed songs. A staple in the Australian Alt-Country scene, his hooks and poignant lyrics will stay with you long after the music finishes.
With a powerfully captivating and distinctive voice, Alana Jagt is able to engage her audience with haunting vocal melody lines and heartfelt performance. She is a singer/songwriter who writes and performs pop-infused folk songs or, if you prefer; folk infused pop songs, with a generous pinch of alt-country twang thrown in for good taste!
