Greetings,

I’m still alive and keeping well. Just a quick one here to confirm to everyone that I have indeed updated the website. There are new fonts, pictures, some new pages (such as a press page), and an updated Bio. Basically just an overall new and improved feel with up-to-date info.

While I’m on the topic of a new ‘Press page’, here are some recent quotes and feedback for ‘Set in Stone’:

The Sydney Morning Herald (Nov 21, 2014)

“a wonderful intensity in his arrangements and delivery”

– Paul Smith
Post To Wire (Nov 24, 2014)

“an accomplished collection of beautifully played and recorded songs that shows Newton’s wistful way with folk and sometimes country melodies”

– Chris Familton
Country Update (Dec 06, 2014)

“(Set in Stone is) an album richly veined with detail.”

– Gareth Hipwell
Jolene: The Country Music Blog (Dec 09, 2014)

“sounds like its creator has put himself into a particular mindset: when stories were sung around campfires, to a small circle of listeners who paid attention and could see the singer’s emotions written on his face as well as hear them in his voice.”

– Sophie Hamley

Ladies and Gentlemen… As promised, here it is: The official release of my first two singles from my Debut Album. That’s right, I’m throwing the definition of ‘single as one’ out the window.

The following tracks can begin to give you some idea about the contrast in sound and style that I’ve gone for with this album. Both follow some sort of narrative but take a different approach in doing so. I’ve still gone for the lush side of instrumentation and texture but given my voice a bit more of a shining role – in comparison to my EP.

You’ve probably already heard an acoustic version of Dead Man Walking on my Pozible Campaign video. Here is the full quality, studio version.

The track ‘Bill’s Lost Love’ is also the one that is currently having an animated music video produced for it by Sydney Animator – Sarah Eddowes. If you like what you hear below, I will be sending out an exclusive download link for my track ‘Bill’s Lost Love’ via the Mailing List. If you want in, sign up to the right. >>>>>>>

Listen. Enjoy. Share. Pledge.

Erskineville Hive Bar Residency

If anyone was wondering how things are going with my Hive Bar Residency, it’s been going awesome. In fact, I’ve turned many of the nights into a bit of a jam by encouraging friends to bring along their instruments. I’ve even collaborated on a couple of the weeks with the guy doing every other Tuesday – Marc O’Connor. Many, many good times had.

On the topic of Marc O’Connor, he’s gone back to Ireland for a month or so, which means that I’ll be taking over his Tuesdays and doing it as a weekly thing for the next month or so.

If you’re in the area, come along. I kick the music off at 7pm. For more in-depth information, check out the post prior to this one.

Back to the Pozible Campaign.

Again to my crowd-funding campaign.. If you enjoy some of the DIYs that I post on here or even the music that I create. Please consider pledging to my album. I’ve also got some fantastic rewards up there.

Until next time,

Speak soon
